HSN CODE: 32099020

SC 040 Non-Intumescent FR Coating is designed to reduce flame spread and smoke generation without expanding under heat. It is suitable for fabrics and interior surfaces. It provides economical fire protection and improves safety. All products are Green Products and are manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 standards, ensuring quality, reliability, and environmentally responsible production.

Certification & Standards

SC 080 has been rigorously tested and certified by the National Test House (NTH), Ghaziabad (Government of India). It provides up to 120 minutes of fire protection and complies with international standards such as NFPA 703 and ASTM tests including:

  • E-162 (Flame Spread)

  • E-662 (Smoke Generation)

  • E-84 (Surface Burning Characteristics)

  • D-1360 (Fire Retardant Properties)

These certifications validate its performance and reliability in critical fire safety applications.

Key Features & Properties

  • Type: Water-based, asbestos-free, halogen-free, intumescent coating

  • Finish: Matte, available in off-white and custom shades

  • Curing Time:

    • Surface dry: 60 minutes

    • Tack-free: 8 hours

    • Hard dry: 48 hours

  • Durability: Excellent adhesion, flexibility, and high scratch resistance

  • Chemical Resistance: Stable against mild acids, alkalis, oils, and water

  • Fire Rating: Up to 120 minutes with DFT of 1500 microns

  • Shelf Life: 1 year under recommended storage conditions

How It Works

At approximately 250°C, SC 080 expands to form a thick insulating foam layer (intumescent char). This protective barrier reduces heat transfer and blocks oxygen contact with the wood surface. Additionally, the release of inert gases helps suppress combustion, effectively preventing fire spread.

Application Procedure

  • Surface Preparation: Clean the surface using emery paper and remove dust, grease, and any old or non-fire-rated coatings.

  • Priming: Apply one coat of Safecoat Fire Retardant Primer for Wood (coverage approx. 80 sq. ft./L).

  • Base Coating: Apply SC 080 Intumescent F.R. Coating in multiple coats to achieve the required thickness:

    • 700 microns for 1-hour fire protection

    • 1500 microns for 2-hour fire protection

    • Allow approx. 4 hours drying time between each coat

  • Topcoat: Apply two coats of Safecoat FR Top Coat for Wood (coverage approx. 45 sq. ft. in 2 coats) to protect the intumescent layer from weathering and environmental exposure.

Coverage

  • 1-hour rating: ~15 sq. ft./L

  • 2-hour rating: ~6–7 sq. ft./L

Advantages

  • Certified fire resistance up to 120 minutes

  • Eco-friendly, asbestos-free & halogen-free formulation

  • Excellent mechanical strength and chemical resistance

  • Easy application by brush, roller, or spray

  • Suitable for furniture, doors, panels, partitions, and industrial wood structures

  • Long-term protection with up to 5-year warranty or first fire incidence

Safety & Maintenance

  • Reapplication is required after exposure to fire

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight

  • Follow recommended application guidelines for best performance
