SafeCoat specializes in class-approved passive fire protection for electrical cables through advanced cable coating solutions. Our systems can be applied directly to live cables, ensuring full protection without any interruption to your operations.
SafeCoat offers a high-performance fire retardant coating (SC-01) that has been tested by CBRI to provide up to 3 hours of fire resistance under standard fire conditions, following UL 1479 and BS 476 Part 20. The system also underwent rigorous impact, vibration, water absorption, and ageing tests, and tests as per IEC 60331 were conducted. The coating is suited for critical cable infrastructure where fire containment and insulation are vital.
Survive exteme temperature over time
The IEC 60331 standard fire-resistant cable can withstand only 830° C (1526° F) in a fire situation, while SC-01 coated cables can survive a hydrocarbon fire of 1100° C (2012° F) for up to 60 minutes – without any problem to the insulation or the electrical properties of the cable.
SafeCoat cable coating systems are engineered to protect both lives and productivity by significantly enhancing fire safety. Our specialized coatings prevent flame propagation, stopping small fires from escalating into major incidents. By minimizing the risk of short circuits, eliminating cables as a source of combustion, and preventing the release of toxic and poisonous gases, SafeCoat ensures a safer environment and helps maintain operational continuity in the event of a fire.
Even the smallest fire—whether from a short circuit or an external source—can lead to significant production losses. According to industry standards, any damaged cable that requires more than 6 hours to replace is considered critical and must be upgraded with fire protection measures.
Electrical cables naturally act as pathways for fire to spread quickly throughout a facility. With SafeCoat cable coatings applied, the risk of fire traveling along cable routes is effectively eliminated, ensuring greater safety and minimizing operational downtime.
Compared to the high costs of installing and maintaining active fire protection systems, cable coating offers a more cost-effective and efficient solution. While active systems typically aim to contain fires in their early stages, they depend on proper mechanical setup or manual activation and are not always designed to fully extinguish fires.
In contrast, SafeCoat fire-protected cables consistently perform by maintaining cable functionality during the initial phase of a fire, ensuring circuit integrity and continuity for emergency services and essential electrical equipment. Importantly, cables treated with SafeCoat typically do not require replacement after a fire incident, providing both safety and cost savings.
SafeCoat Intumescent Coating expands up to 100 times its original thickness to provide superior fire protection. To address and assess your specific cable safety concerns, we typically perform a comprehensive on-site survey, followed by a detailed report outlining recommended solutions. This service is provided with no obligation on your part.
SafeCoat’s experienced surveyors collaborate closely with you to understand your concerns and identify opportunities to reduce risks and enhance the resilience of your cables.
Our survey report thoroughly documents the current and anticipated future condition of your cables. We then provide confidential recommendations along with budget estimates tailored to your needs.
Turnkey installations are carried out by our skilled technicians using only SafeCoat Class-Approved products. The process is completed with comprehensive documentation, including a Completion Report, Warranty Certificate, and all relevant Class Approvals and Testing Reports.
SafeCoat offers two specialized fire protection coating systems:
Applications are typically performed using heavy-duty airless sprayers, ensuring complete coverage of all cables from end to end within the designated area of concern.
